Master's Programs at the Department of Communication and Journalism
Study at the Department of Communication at Hebrew University of Jerusalem – ranked as the 14th leading department of communication in the world!
The program is intended to impart in-depth and more specialized knowledge in distinctive fields of communication. Students choose one of the following streams:
- Internet and New Media
- Political Communication and Psychological Processes in the Digital Era
- Digital Screens: Media, Culture and Cinema
- Multidisciplinary Communication Studies
Additionally, studies are undertaken either in a research track, which includes conducting independent research and writing a thesis, or in a non-research track which is based exclusively on coursework.
The master’s program is a two-year program, and studies take place one day a week (Mondays). The program can be completed within three semesters.
Students who do not have a bachelor's degree in communications will be required to take supplementary studies of up to 10 credits in the first semester of studies. Such students may have courses on other days during the week in addition to Mondays.
The MA program is primarily taught in Hebrew, except for a small number of courses. For a more detailed outline of the program please consult our Hebrew website.
Admission Requirements
- A GPA of at least 85 in the bachelor’s degree.
- Candidates with a bachelor's degree other than communication whose GPA is above 83 and have at least two years of proven experience in the field of communication are also eligible to apply for a master's degree.
- Supplementary studies take place on other days during the week besides Mondays.
- As part of the online application to the master’s program, candidates are requested to submit a statement of purpose. The statement should be about 500 words long, in font 12 and double-spaced.
